End to End Flat | Remodel | Design Phase
For this interior remodel, our client wished for a more open floor plan that would connect the kitchen to the living spaces. The solution was to remove an existing partition wall and replace the spatial divider with a countertop. In doing so, the floor plan of the unit maintains a distinction between the kitchen and living rooms while allowing natural light and unobstructed views above waist height. This allows for conversations to continue regardless of where you are in the space. The countertop even doubles as a bar, drawing an audience in without getting in the way of the people preparing food in the kitchen. We coined this project the "End to End flat based on the concept of transparency and connectivity of these spaces between the entrance of the flat until the balcony on the opposite end.

As seen in both the existing floor plan (Left) and the proposed remodel floor plan (Right), the unit is laid out into two bars. On the right is the kitchen and living spaces that look out from the 10th floor out over the intracoastal water way. On the left is the master suite including the bedroom, closets, and bathroom. Further changes to the unit included extending the closet space in the master suite. The existing bedroom was deemed to be to large for the client and additional space was given to the closet. Lastly, all the bathroom countertops were raised from 30 inches to 36 inches, all the doors in the flat were updates, and all the floor finishes were changed.
