Greene Street Hotel | Pre Schematic Design | 2020
The Greene Street Hotel project is a building merging two separate hotels with a combined room count of 255 for Hollywood, Florida. Additionally to the hotel component, a restaurant is planned on the 133,000 square foot lot. A conference center and banquet hall were a priority within the hotel as there was a growing need for event spaces for the local Jewish community in the area. These programs spill out into a shaded outdoor space to the north of the property away from the parking lots and nestled between the building and scenic mangrove canal.
This project was designed by ODP Architects. The project team includes Project Manager: Xio Munoz, Project Designers: Christian Steixner, and Intern: Andrea Sandell
Considering the economy, the design of the two flag hotel was designed modular with close consideration to avoiding transfer columns in the design. The solution was a carefully planned intersection of two modular blocks. A valet drop off is planned under the building at the intersection of the two hotel lobby's. Material expression articulate the massing to appear to be floating.
As part of the drawing package, research was done to compare the proposed design to other operating hotels in the area. A research component is important in our design process to establish grounded design solutions.
